Safal Niveshak is 2 Years Old!

Yes, it’s time to put on the big boy pants…Safal Niveshak is two years old today. 🙂

A lot has happened in these quick two years, but as with any 2-year-old, I’m just getting started.

Most of all, I want to thank each and every one of you for “raising” this initiative to this point — it truly could not have happened without you, dear tribesman.

I know I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating – Thank you so much for reading, for commenting, for your interest and support and intelligent criticism, for keeping me honest, for helping this entire movement of creating smarter and independent stock market investors become greater and spread wider.

You are magnificent, and I am supremely grateful for your time and attention.

Here are some numbers that might interest you.

In these two years, I have written 400 posts, have 6,000+ subscribers for The Safal Niveshak Post, and have seen 100,500 unique visitors visit the website from 151 countries.

Most importantly, not only are people coming to Safal Niveshak, they are staying here for more than 5 minutes per visit. Now that’s encouraging in the age of Twitter and widespread attention deficit disorders! 🙂

Here are the five most-read posts on the site over these two years…

I get a lot of emails every week from readers telling me that something I wrote kept them out of trouble or helped them make sense of their personal financial life. These letters serve a great sense of achievement and provide a consistent motivation to carry on doing my work.

Here’s one such letter I received recently…

Your articles are like lampposts in unknown land. Every time I am confused about which way to go I try to look at the lampposts and I get the way. I know at the end I have to find the way myself but a guide who traveled this road can tell about the possible precautions and dangers as well as pleasures in travelling by this route. Thank you for what you are doing. ~ Dr. Umesh Lad

I want to finish this post by saying that I’m really humbled that you take the time to read what I write down here…especially when I write the exact same thing 200 times a year in such a way that you never think I am repeating myself. 🙂

Here’s something that resonates so much with what I am feeling as Safal Niveshak completes two years.

I read this on one of the few blogs I read consistently…that of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, who wrote this after completing five years at his own blog…

“I am simply amazed at the most intricate and valuable information that has come through these posts…on matters personal, on matters of conflict, on matters of worldly wisdom, of care and consideration for the other, of the connections made with unknowns, of bondings, friendships that never existed but do now with a flourish, our concerns for each other, our greetings to those, oceans and worlds apart, of discovering incredible talent…all through the medium of a few words.

Thank you dear tribesman for your patience, and for bearing with me!

Special thanks to Mr. Sudhir Bhargava for being the most prolific commentator on Safal Niveshak so far, with his 253 comments. Here’s a special gift I just sent him.

Finally, I have a request to make – If Safal Niveshak has touched your life, as an investor or otherwise, I would be happy and honoured to know in the Comments below.

I am waiting to get motivated for another two years. 🙂

  3. Thanks for taking us through this wonderful journey of investing!!!

When I look at quality your of blog posts and the quality of participant comments, I can only think of this. You all have great experience and you all are willing to share it with guys like me. For guy like me, working in software and have huge interests in investing, blogs like yours are a blessing!

  4. Bhavesh Chauhan says:

This site is a comprehend of articles and the way you can go about for a value investor. Certainly, it is worth reading- not only for people who invest in equities but also for lay man as it would help him to manage personal finance. Also, at this point in time, there are hardly any honest financial advisors in our country. Equity as an asset class is under-penetrated.

So while I congratulate Vishal for the past two years, I would urge him to keep going for many more years to come.

  5. Congrats for 2 wonderful years!!! Great initiative… Terrific work… Out of the box thinking… Want to see growing from strength to strength…

  6. S Sridharan says:

Many happy returns of the day! May your tribe increase!

  7. Hip Hip Hurray!

Many congratulations Vishal and all tribesmen! We will go ahead, much ahead. 2 years, as we all know, not even “short-term” in value investing! 🙂

  8. Indranil says:

    Many congratulations!!
Your talent, intelligence, patience and perseverance has paid off, and that is another learning for all of us.
    Rgds & best wishes.

  9. Congrats Vishal (The Chief Tribesman) for engaging the fellow tribesman with lot of information, experience and practical ways to improve there knowledge…. Wishing many more such anniversaries and a bounty of learnings…

  10. Sridhar says:

Congratulations and Best Wishes to Vishal and Safal Niveshak Team for all the valuable content and knowledge sharing that happens through interactions.
SN has stood the test of time and I wish it reaches more and more people looking to learn the art of sensible investing.
In today’s fast changing world several blogs or websites lose relevance or cease to exist. SN consistent presence, constant flow of articles, discussions, comments, etc is not easy to maintain, and credit goes to Vishal, other team members as well as the regular tribesmen(women) who have been contributing their bit regularly.
Congratulations once again and look forward to celebrations/party once you complete 5 years-:)

  11. Dear Vishal,
Congratulations and the very best for the future! You have many more years to go.. not just 2. Let’s say Safalniveshak is 2 years young!
    Keep up the great initiative.
    Best regards,

  12. Harshad Parulekar says:

    Hello Vishal,
I pray with every day more and more people become tribe member of this wonderful community.
I also pray every member part of this community work on the principles and become Financially Free.
My best regards for the future.

  13. Congratulations to you Vishal and thank you to all tribesmen who have contributed so selflessly.

This is an example of collaborative learning and so prevalent on the net. It is such a big trend that people are already sounding the death of formal schools and colleges and universities. Sites like Khan Academy and Coursera are places where you can study / learn almost any topic.

Through the various posts I have learnt so much, realised how little I know and hope to continue to learn.

I hope together all of us will discover many new roads, overcome hurdles and venture into pristine health and wealth giving avenues.
Dear Vishal – Thank you the books and I must say you have achieved in a short 2 years what many struggle to do in many years. I think the underlying ethos of ‘giving’ ‘sharing’ selflessly is an important element contributing to the success. Good luck.

  14. Congratulations Vishal!

    Thank you for Safal Niveshak.

  15. Dr. Umesh Lad says:

    Dear Vishal,
first I should thank you for being there consistently, i feel its difficult to be persistent on an activity like this. its difficult to stay on the web and get noticed. i am not praising but this endeavor is comparable with the two great men first Amitabh Ji and next Sachin tendulkar, i find some similarities in them and you and trying to adapt them in my life (though not much successful yet) namely being persistent in owns work, enjoying what you do irrespective of critics, keeping oneself calm and focused in ups and downs of life (not only financial but life as whole), and giving luck due credit whatever happens good or bad. Now i congratulate you for completing two years and thank god that you started this on right time(for me at least and yes I am a human being and i have every right to be little bit selfish) as well as i come across a great person in the ocean of uncertainties. i wish you all the luck and all the success that you deserve. thank you again. may god keep you happy.

  16. Swateek Jena says:

Congratulations Vishal.. Its ‘Safal “Niveshaks”‘ now. 🙂

Hope you continue this and we all stay your tribesmen.

I kept my silence, expecting some gifts!

Think n Grow Rich is a superb book who shaped my life.

    Dan makes me less irrational.

I wish u keep rocking with ur brilliant posts.I believe.

”Safal niveshak is the basic foundation before u start investing”

  20. Akhilesh Pathak says:

    Dear Vishal,

Heartiest Congratulations and heartfelt thank you for always being there like a beacon and symbol of hope for strayed investors and souls like me.

Safal Niveshak is not only a blog for great investment wisdom and engaging discussions but also a place where one can learn a lot about profound truths of life and the ways to live prosperously in real sense. One can only impart such wisdom, if one is living those virtues. It is sheer pleasure to read the responses full of knowledge and experiences from other tribesmen as well. Kudos to you and ever amazing tribesmen. Since I am working on one of the initiatives on learning and education, I can proudly say that you not only demonstrate us how to invest and live but Inspire us to the core .

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” ― William Arthur Ward

  25. Mayank Madan says:

Well, we have something in common. Its been 2 years for SN and as a reader, its been almost a year for me 🙂
But its with the same pleasure and anxiousness that I open every mail sent by you Vishal. You have been a great mentor and a great teacher.
But I am sure there still are “Miles to Go”

    Keep being Awesome!

  26. Reni George says:

    Dear Vishal
Congratulations to you and wish SAFALNIVESHAK a heartiest Happy Birthday….It has been two years, since a guy with some modest image took upon himself to change the way retail investors, invested in equities…he wanted to prove that retail investors,if understood the game well, were capable of themselves earning a handsome rate of return from equities and thus was born safalniveshak…One man’s idea has turned out into a mass movement, where now every member of the tribe is trying to improve himself and other members in the field of investing…as we find value in our life and in our style of investing…I would pray for this tribe not for the next two years, but for many years to come…when we grow old in terms of our stock holding and process system.Let us pledge for the total upliftment of the tribe and its members and move forward in terms of wealth and life.

A special thanks to vishal, for carrying on the work selflessly…may you succeed in all walks of life.

    Thanks and Regards
    Happy Investing

    Reni George

    • Thank you so much Reni for your kind words! Thanks also for being the rock-solid support to this movement. Yes, the upliftment of the entire tribe is what drives this initiative, and I feel so glad you have always been there. Regards.

  27. Great going, Vishal 🙂 A wonderful journey and some profound thoughts to value the “value”, not just in investing, but in life.

I wish Safal Niveshak many more such milestones, and it continue to grow – not the way markets are doing on “steroids”, but grow in an organic, healthy manner and benefit many thousands and lakhs, and, millions of readers and investors 🙂

Congratulations again, to you, your family and our family of “safal Niveshaks” 😉

  28. Dear Vishal,

    A big congratulation….
    No greeting card to give…
    No sweet flowers to send…
    No cute graphics to forward…
Just a loving heart saying “HAPPY ANNIVERSARY” & “HAPPY INVESTING”

  29. Abhishek says:

    Hi Vishal,

Congratulations! This is a mark of your consistency, stamina, and desire to share knowledge.

You do not need motivation from others, great people are self motivated as they have a purpose much larger than themselves which draws them forcefully to do what they must do.

    Dear Vishal,
Hats off to you for speaking your mind and helping lot of lost souls like us find their bearings in this mad world of investing. Keep up the good work and hope you continue with it!! Wishing you the very best in all your endeavours…

  37. Hello Vishal ji,
Before I came across..your safal niveshak posts, I was just an ignorant investor, who would invest on whims and without much consideration.
I roughly new warren buffet by his name and as a first / second richest man in the world….i didn’t bothered much about his or his partner or his Guru’s investment style. Unknowingly I had read Intelligent Investor by Benjamin graham…..not because he was the mentor of Mr. Buffet but due to the name of the book…. 
But after reading a couple of your post..while random surfing…I like your idea and style of writing..and since then I have never looked back………and have never missed your single article.
I should confess that know I have become a lot more disciplined investor and have read a lot about the Gurus of this field and have purchased hard book of Peter Lynch. Before I visited your site investing for me was a fluke or a dart game..if it hits……………I rejoiced and if it missed..i won’t tell it to anybody..and remorse in private… but now that not the case.

I have been rational in all my investment related moves.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart…Vishal ji to get me on the proper track..which leads to a rich life both in term of finance & non-finance (more important) terms.
The very special quality of you and Prof. Sanajy Bakshi ji (whom I was introduced to through your site only) is that of sharing what you have learned. Before that it was like a black box.
But as is said, what goes around comes around. Good things you spread comes back to you in unexpected way and with compound interest. You must have surely experienced it, as your are the first one to share good with others like me.

    • Feels great to know more about you Kishor ji. Thanks a lot for sharing your journey so far, and all the best for the future. Thanks also for your kind words of appreciation and motivation! Regards.

  38. Hi Vishal

Hi Vishal, Heartiest congratulations and best wishes
And Also Please start to read and explain Warren Buffet Letters. if possible.

  39. Ajay Jain says:

Thanks Vishal, I never tried to learn how to comment on a blog, did try in past via tabs/cell etc but left it after couple of try. You have already established best alternate life school/ education in this blog and your other affiliated activities. Reading this regularly ensures someone never misses any important thinks to live and life – other successes in career, investments, happiness, networking, better relationships etc etc are just by products which are guaranteed.

  40. Congratulations Vishal.

I am just a new subscriber, but I really like the simple way that you put across the fundamentals of Value Investing in Safal Niveshak. Wishing more such years of guiding retail and newbie investors like us.

  43. Congratulations Vishal, and keep the articles coming.

I came across an interesting person by the name of Mr Parag Parikh.I’ve read one of his books “stocks to riches” and it was pretty good.I would consider him second to peter lynch. He also has local knowledge of things like price bubbles and operator manipulation. He runs his own mutual fund now

Hope you could cover this guy in your next post.

  44. Upendra says:

Congratulations. I wish this website to be the most preferred one in India for gaining insights into value investing and related areas by the end of 4 years i.e., 2015
