Spend One Full Day Learning to Invest the Way That Actually Lasts

Join me, in person, for a full day of clear, sensible value investing. No tips, no jargon, no noise. Just the thinking that has helped ordinary investors build real wealth slowly and stay calm through every market.

A Small Room, Not a Conference

I keep these workshops deliberately small, because the value of a full day in person isn’t the size of the crowd. It’s that I can actually get to your questions, and that you spend the day thinking alongside a handful of other people who are as serious about this as you are. You’ll share a meal, swap notes, and if you like, stay in touch long after. No noise, no networking-for-its-own-sake. Just good people, thinking clearly together for a day.

Why this Workshop?

I’m Vishal Khandelwal. After eight years as an equity analyst, I’ve spent the last fifteen running Safal Niveshak, teaching value investing to more than 100,000 investors across 25+ countries. I’ve written three books, I teach finance as adjunct faculty at FLAME University, and I neither manage money nor sell stock tips. I just help people learn to think clearly and invest sensibly.

Value investing goes back to Benjamin Graham in the 1930s, carried forward by the likes of Buffett and Schloss. The businesses and the markets have changed enormously since then. The core principles haven’t, and that’s exactly why they still work.

Here’s what I’ve come to believe after all these years of teaching them: the thinking matters far more than the techniques. Anyone can learn a DCF formula in an afternoon, and today you can find every formula and framework for free in seconds. What’s rare is learning how to sit still when the market is falling, how to say “I don’t know” without flinching, and how to tell the difference between a business you understand and one you only think you understand.

This workshop is my attempt to spend an unhurried day on exactly those questions, the principles, the frameworks, and the mental habits, with a small group of people who care enough to show up in person.

If that sounds like a Sunday well spent, I’d love to have you in the room.

Workshop Curriculum

I don’t want you leaving with a head full of notes you’ll never open again. I want you leaving able to do the work yourself. So every part of the day leads to something you can actually do: open an annual report and know where to look, judge whether a business is worth owning, put a rough value on it, and know a fair price from a bad one. And underneath it all, the way of thinking that ties it together.

Here’s everything we’ll cover together, unhurried, over the full day.

1. Rules and Principles of Value Investing
Build the foundation the world’s best investors stand on.

  • Key investing lessons I’ve learned in 23+ years of investing
  • What really drives stock market returns over the long run.
  • Investment success: luck or skill?
  • Compounding, and how most investors ignore its potent power
  • The evolution of value investing from Graham to Buffett
  • Investing’s most important checklist and questions

2. Frameworks for Business Analysis
Learn to tell a business worth owning from one that only looks good.

  • How to generate stock ideas using a simple process
  • How to screen for high-quality businesses
  • Circle of competence: why what you don’t know matters more
  • The most important questions to ask about any business
  • Economic moats: what they are, and how to spot a real one
  • Profitable growth vs wealth creation
  • When to sell a stock

3. Making Sense of the Numbers
Read a company’s numbers the way a sensible investor reads them.

  • How to read financial statements the way an investor does
  • Few numbers that actually tell you whether a business is any good
  • What the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow each really tell you, in plain English
  • Reading an annual report: where to look first, and what to safely ignore
  • Red flags worth walking away from

A quick note on this part: This isn’t an accounting class, and that’s deliberate. Most investors drown in numbers because they were taught to look at all of them. I’ll show you the few that matter and teach you to ignore the rest.

4. Intrinsic Value Calculation
Put a rough, honest value on a business, and know when to distrust it.

  • Understanding value, and why not everything can be valued
  • The myths and truths of valuation
  • The concept of present value, made simple
  • Intrinsic valuation vs relative valuation
  • DCF: the calculation process, and its dos and don’ts
  • Margin of safety: the key ideas, and where it comes from

5. Models to Deal with Uncertainty in Investing
Make decisions you won’t regret, even when you can’t be certain.

  • Why investing is a probabilistic game, not a predictive one
  • Pre-mortems and second-order thinking, for decisions you won’t regret
  • Position sizing when you’re not sure (and you’re never fully sure)

6. The Inner Game of Investing
Master the one thing that decides most investors’ returns: their own behaviour.

  • Why most investors earn far less than the funds they own, and how to close that gap
  • How to spot your behavioural blind spots before they cost you money
  • How to stay calm and think clearly when the market is falling apart
  • The art of doing nothing
  • Building the temperament of a long-term owner rather than a restless trader

Is This Workshop for You?

I’d rather you not come than come and feel it wasn’t right for you. So here’s an honest filter.

This is probably for you if…

  • You want to understand the principles of value investing, not just collect a few formulas
  • You’re willing to read annual reports and do your own thinking
  • You want to build an investing philosophy of your own, drawn from what has worked for the world’s best investors over the last several decades
  • You believe wealth from stocks is built gradually, not in a hurry
  • You’re as interested in your own behaviour as you are in the businesses you buy

This is probably not for you if…

  • You’re already an experienced value investor looking for advanced techniques (this workshop covers principles and frameworks; it’s not a masterclass for experienced practitioners)
  • You don’t intend to read annual reports or analyse businesses yourself
  • You’re looking for stock tips or a model portfolio
  • You’re interested in technical analysis, derivatives, F&O, or short-term trading—none of which I teach or practice

“But I don’t have a finance background…”

I hear this a lot. And the answer is that investing well comes down to thinking honestly and learning slowly, one idea at a time. Sharp maths and fancy degrees have very little to do with it. That’s the whole trick.

If you can read my newsletter, you can follow this workshop. I teach beginners and seasoned investors in the same room, in plain language, at a pace that lets it sink in. So if the only thing holding you back is a quiet fear that you’re not the “type” who can learn this, set it down. It isn’t true.

Your Investment in the Workshop

Let’s call it what it is. This is an investment in your future self. One wrong decision in the stock market can cost you lakhs. One day of clear thinking can save you years of confusion. If this workshop prevents even a single big mistake, you’ve made your money back several times over. And if it gives you the clarity and confidence to build a better investing life, the returns may last a lifetime.

Vishal is an excellent human being. In the current world, it is difficult to find such a person. Not even a single second I felt that course offered to earn money. He is so patient to teach and answer the questions. Double value for money!

Pandurangan M

A very sincere offering in the murky field of financial advisory. Easy to digest for a wide range of investors. Newbies to fairly advanced. Thanks for not taking shortcuts and giving all the time needed to explain and absorb.

Thanks for sharing in depth about the true aspect of value investing. Most of investors would have heard about Value Investing but a vast majority were not clear as to what it means in practice. Your workshop has provided numerous examples of how to look at investing for long term wearing the lens of a value investor. The valuation methods (with numerous examples) shared during the workshop are of immense value.

Suresh V

Individual Investor

Vishal’s workshops are designed to remove the immense confusion that the financial services industry strikes in the hearts of investors as they try to navigate through treacherous waters of misinformation and complicated jargon. He is a patient guide and mentor.

Kavita Nanavati

One last thought before you decide.

Charlie Munger once said that the people who rise through life are rarely the smartest or the most driven. They’re the learning machines, the ones who go to bed each night a little wiser than they woke up, and let that compound over a long life.

That’s the whole idea behind this day. I’m not here to hand you a stock to buy. I’m here to start you on the path of becoming that kind of investor, and that kind of thinker, the one who compounds knowledge as patiently as money, and ends up richer in both.

If some part of you already knows you want to become that person, I’d love to have you in the room.
